From a Gold Star Mother:

What Memorial Day Means to me: This holiday is very important to me, as I remember what my son SPC Adam James Patton and so many young men and women went through for me and for others.
“Memorial Day is a day we are reminded, almost daily of the great sacrifices that the men and women of thrmed services make to defend our way of life.”
Memorial Day is not about picnics and barbecues. What ever you do this weekend take time to pause and give thanks for all that you have due to the sacrifice of many men and women. It is about showing respect to those who fought and the many that died for our country.
It is a shame that people have forgotten what Memorial Day is for.It is not to thank a Vet.for their service, but to remember our brave men and women who have given their lives in battle. We thank people who are serving or who have served on Veterans Day. I remember my son SPC ADAM JAMES Patton and the Silent six who where KIA on 5/26/2011 today on Memorial Day and Always.

To me this is a solemn day of honoring those and all the others that have given the ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. On Memorial Day, we take time to remember all of the soldiers that died so that we can have our freedom. Rest easy soldiers, for you have earned it ❤
