A special Journey - Faith and Fubar
Happy Anniversary Faith & Fubar! When recently chatting with Faith about her and Fubar’s pairing date coming up i asked her if she would like to say a few words. Without hestiation Faith quickly sent me these beautiful words.
“When I think that me and Fubar have been together for two years now it seems crazy. I say this because it feels like him and I have been together for a life time. Fubar came into my life when I needed him the most. I remember still calling Jen telling her about Honor and the fact that I was going to need a new service dog with tears rolling down my face. Jen made it her mission to find me the perfect dog sending picture after picture of them. As they were all so good looking I felt no connection with them. I became sad that I would never have a connection with another dog like I did with Honor. After Jen had sent me a link to look at a dog that she thought would work, I saw the dog and told her no then I just started to look at the other dogs in that shelter and I saw him. There was something about his eyes so sad but yet so much to offer, not to mention he was such a hansom boy. Jen got my phone call early the next morning and I told her all about him. After a few times going back and looking at him I got the phone call he was going home with them. After going to MI to get him and train with him I wish I could say it was all roses but it was not right before going back to MA fubar got seriously hurt then after that he got beaver fever from his infection. Then this year I came very close to dying because one of my kidneys became blocked and was on the verge of going septic the crazy thing was I kept ignoring the pain until Fubar would not leave me alone and he kept going to my wife because of his reaction I went to the hospital and had to have emergency surgery.
Over all this our bond built stronger. Fubar has not only helped me, he has help my son and wife as well. When my son was being bullied at school fubar would know Vincent was sad and would stay with him making him laugh and relax. Fubar is a big funny guy he has helped with finding my funny side he know when I am lost in my own mind and will do anything to bring me out of it. Many times it means that he will tackle me or throw his ball off the side of my head, you can’t help but to laugh at his goof ball ways. One of the biggest ways Fubar has helped me in the last few months is with protesting here in Boston. We have had marching close to the house and the helicopters flying all night long have cause me to have more night terrors. Fubar has never let me suffer he wakes me up throughout the nights or will sleep with me so that I can relax. Fubar has allowed me to trust in something bigger than my fear. Now I am training for a Spartan race and Rugged Maniac Race and throughout my training fubar is right by my side. I am excited to see what comes in this new year with him by my side.” ~Faith
