When we say we expose our dogs to different things, we mean it!

We took Bella to the farm……yup, that’s right, to a good old fashion farm! Oh what a day we had.

Jen, Audrey, Joe , Bella and I met there early Saturday to expose Bella to farm animals. (There is a possibility she will be exposed to this at her new home). Better to prepare, than not.  Jen walked Bella through, they have a strong bond and Bella trusts her. Putting a dog who was not born on a farm, that comes from the streets of Detroit, and into a yard with the scents and noises…… was really not fair. But pushing Bella is part of what our training/socializing is about. We need to know how she will react in new situations, not only how she will react, but if she will approach and then work through that new situation with you.

I think we had way more fun then Bella did! Her head, ears and nose was turning in different directions taking it all in. Bella was very curious but not once did her hair stand up, or did she exhibit any aggressive characteristics! Bella was most curious with the cow and pig, and the Lamas were most curious about her. Bella took all the corrections, no matter how interested she was, when Jen said “no” and gave her a tug, she listened!!! I don’t think my dogs would have behaved so well in such an environment.  Bella, again, you impressed me and confirmed what a wonderful dog you are!

Thank you Maybury Farm for letting us take Bella through. They do not let dogs in normally (for the obvious reasons) but when we explained what we were doing and why, they gladly agreed! What a day for all involved, and from what I hear, Bella had to take a bath cause she took some of those scents home with her……)
