It was such a beautiful morning. Tiger and I continue on our socialization path, introducing him to new experiences. Today I taped us through the park, up a lot of stairs and around a spinning rock (yes, a spinning rock). Tiger enjoyed his walk today as much as I did. I even got him to sit a pose for some pictures.(Tiger is a little camera shy).

While I was walking Tiger yesterday in Downtown Plymouth, I heard my name called “Jenny” (an old high school name) and as I turned to see an old friend, he is pointing to Tiger asking if he was a  ‘Stiggy’s Dog?’  I was beaming from ear to ear. People HAVE been reading my blog or following my face book page.!!!!  Here was someone I haven’t seen in years asking me if my dog was a Stiggy’s Dog, like he was asking if it was a Labrador!!!!! That made my Day!!!!

It is so much fun discovering the joys of a new pet. We knew Tiger liked the water, but just how much?

Tiger has been doing fantastic! We met with trainer, Donna Fournier, for the first time. Donna ran him through all the test, spent some time with him, watched him thoroughly through out the class, and gave him a big thumbs up!!!! We believe he will pass the Canine Good Citizens next week!!!!

Now I am socializing him, putting him in every situation we can, to see how he reacts. Tiger does get a little nervous, his first time in an office building, but he stayed connected to me while aware of his surroundings. Here is the video of him at the park and playground….

I have spent some solid time with Tiger. He is really a wonderful sweet boy who wants to be loved!

These past few days have been stressful for Tiger I am sure. He was introduced to new people, homes, dogs, commands, smells, routines, etc. All of this he has ‘panted’ in stride. He is still settling into a routine and panting is a release for him. I have to say, even in the stressful of situations while he was panting heavily, he always listened or took correction! That is amazing, usually a dog in unable to learn in an ‘excited’ state of mind. Tiger is really smart!

Tiger seems like he hasn’t had much socialization and play time with other dogs. Tiger wants to play, but he is awkward in his approach: he barks, chases and barks (like a herding cattle dog). Joe, Spencer and I spent some time working with Tiger to be part of our pack, Twig and Big were  neutral dogs and good teachers for Tiger.  Tiger is not aggressive just a little obnoxious, and we know where to focus on.

We have always envied the other dog owners we saw at the park with their dogs, throwing the ball, the dog ignoring everything around it, retrieving the ball straight back to their owner diligently and eagerly waiting for one more throw….. Read the rest here…
