When I received this email, I initially thought it was a joke. Seriously, I didn’t even reading the email when I was asking my husband “Joe, did you do this? Is this a joke? Sweet, but really?”
What a wonderful event! I am speechless about being the honoree, however, the true honoree’s are our dogs and these Military Heroes!

Dear Mrs. Petre

At McGalliard School, we try to develop our students’ character, specifically through the teachings of the Six Pillars of Character; Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Citizenship, Trustworthiness and Fairness. One of the ways we do this is the activities planned by our Character Development Team. We are especially proud of the event that will occur on Tuesday, April 26, when our fifth grade students will present The 7th Annual People of Good Character Wax Museum. Each student will
prepare a display board to highlight the achievements of his or her person of good character. The students also dress up as the people who they are representing. They then freeze as if they are made of wax while visitors to the museum pass through to see their costumes and displays.

This year, we have included your name as one of our honorees. We are inspired by the way that you demonstrate Citizenship, caring for our American military men and women through “Stiggy’s Dogs”.

We heard about your organization because our principal, Mrs. Dacey, has a daughter who is involved in the Veterans Student Organization at Bloomsburg. Mrs. Dacey shared about your organization and our committee thought that it unique and inspiring to elementary school students who love animals. Since you are its founder, you were our honoree.

The student who played you in the wax museum is named Samantha Rentner. Sami (and all of the 5th grade students) choose the names from a hat and learn about their person through the research portion of the project. Sami did a great job with her poster & props. I have attached some pictures of her from the day/night of the museum.
