Faith Harris gives back….
Posted by Jennifer on September 27, 2021
One day when I was going through one of my stressful moments, I called my brother for advice. While catching him up on everything, my frustration and desperation coming across clearly in his end. “Hang in there Sis, don’t worry” he encouraged “These Veterans, they will take care of you…” I was unclear exactly what that meant……
I had just received my third message from Veteran Faith Harris, asking me when we would be coming to Boston for Honor’s follow up visit. I delayed calling her back, because frankly I myself was unsure if we would really be able to afford to do that. It took courage for me to call her back, all prepared to explain how financially strapped Stiggy’s Dogs was…..
Faith answered the phone, without even waiting for my “Hi” she began the longest sentence I have ever heard:“I wanted this to be a surprise……planing a big event and fundraiser for Stiggys Dogs……in Boston…….wanted to give back….help raise money for other Veterans…..November 5th……”
Faith Harris, and a great support group around her, have spent a lot of hard work planing: A Night to Save a Dog to Save a Veteran . The event is hosted at Charlestown’s, Night of Columbus. The whole community has stepped up and supported Faith…..she has so far received; donations, gift certificates for business all around the area, Sport events tickets, autographed WWF pictures/Shirt. They will have live music (DJ’s ) and food catered by the community. Plus guest appearances from: Eugene O’Flaherty -MA Representative, Salavadore Lamattina-Boston City Councilor, Jim Dratfield photograhper Dogphoria , Lyn Isenburg, (whom we hope to work with her on a Documentary she is filming )……plus a few other surprises!!!!! Stay tuned!!!
This is so exciting that were loading up a car and taking a road trip there ourselves! Jennifer, Donna, Jamie and Trooper, Terran and Hershey, Ben and Stella - will all be making an appearance!!! Please come and show your support! We look forward to meeting all involved!
Thank you Faith…….for the true end result here. It’s seeing the different person you are now than the person who came to us asking for a Service Dog. It is knowing that you have the confidence to go out in public and be the spokesperson for us. Once a Veteran that didn’t want to go in public, now going on TV doing a live interview! Seeing first hand how Honor and you together make a force to be reckoned with. It is not the money raised, but the love and support for your fellow Veterans. There is no price for that…..and because of this, we will continue “To Rescue On to Rescue Another”
