Happy 1 year Anniversary Jamie and Trooper
Posted by Jennifer on July 17, 2021
Hard to believe that so much has happened in just a year for these two. I am so proud of both of them through this journey….
I read my blog post from last year, Jamie and Trooper Deployed, and I cried all the way through it. Bringing back so many memories, of Trooper and his story- the dycotonmy of his life now brings me to chills. But this isn’t just about Trooper and his survival, or about Jamie and his personal growth. It’s about a relationship, that together, has changed the lives of many….
This past year has been a one of change for Jamie and his family. The first was a move (out to be closer to Stigg’ys). During the Holidays last year and through much of this year, Jamie has been dealing with recurring seizures due to his Traumatic Brain Injury. This was a very difficult time for Jamie (and his family) a short stay on the hospital, constant trips back and froth to the VA to get medications right, and loosing his ability to drive. But by his side through it all, was a huge motivator and companion, Troops! I look at them many times and smile, for they are the epitome of our motto “Rescuing One to Rescue Another”….
Jamie have also become an integral part of Stiggy’s Sanctuary. Jamie makes it a point to meet each new Veteran as they enter the training program. Knowing what it was once like in their shoes, Jamie spends countless hours helping our new Veterans train with their dogs, going on outings with them, inviting them to his home, etc. Jamie has taken many late night phone calls for help, offered advice when needed, and even drove many States away to help a fellow Veteran.
Jamie, you have thanked us many times for Trooper, telling us how he has changed your life. But I am not sure if you realize the gratitude we have for you. How you have changed not only my life personally, but countless others, and the ones you have yet to meet. Thank you for your Service to our Country, to your fellow Veterans, and to our Stiggys family.
