HONOR. and her beautiful brown eyes

I announce this with much pride and excitement.

Honor:  Hero Dog Awards 2012!

This is such wonderful news for so many reasons. For spreading public awareness about PTSD and TBI, Psychiatric Service Dogs, Stiggys Dogs, and for all the Service dogs and Veterans yet to come….

Faith and Honor have been a inspiration to me personally, and now to everyone Nationally…

Faith and Honor: Deployed  August 2011.

The woman I met in July 2011 is not the woman I know today.  I believe part of that reason is her co-pilot Honor. Immediately after being paired with Honor, Faith blossomed, glowed actually. Overnight she became the spokesperson for Stiggys Dogs. She was out in businesses, talking with people, and promoting awareness for not only Stiggys Dogs but all Service Dogs. In 6 months Faith arranged: three street fairs, one Bizarre and a huge fundraiser. She has been interviewed at least 10 times, two on TV. Faith has become my Assistant Director, with aspirations  to open a Stiggys in NE. Faith  is also being trained (by Donna) to become a certified dog trainer!  Faith wants to be able to someday help local Veterans by training their dogs……

All that alone is remarkable without adding her battle with Cervical Cancer.  Honor was there by her side through it all, going to every appointment and even there to wake her in the recovery room with her soft *woof*. I remember Faith telling me before her operation…”Jen, don’t worry, I am a Warrior. I fought in Iraq, I fought when I came back (PTSD)..and I will fight this. . Yes, Faith  is a true Warrior and she is armed with the best weapon…Honor.

Now, I know the Hero Dogs awards are about Honor……but to see Faith, is Honor… for she is the strength behind her.

Honor, never leaving the chair next to Faith's bed in the hospital
