We are now hosting Basic Obedience Classes at the Barracks!

We are now hosting Basic Obedience Classes! I am really excited about having the opportunity to make a difference within our dog community.
After working at the local Humane Society, I realized that to really help make a difference from all these unwanted dogs, the problem needed to be stopped before it became one. I can’t tell you how many times people would drop off their beloved dog, claiming it was ‘bad.’ Really, there are very few ‘bad’ dogs, but there are many under exercised dogs and untrained dogs! And many more untrained and confused dog owners!
I believe it is important for ALL dogs owners to be responsible for their dogs; get them spayed/neutered, keep them healthy and updated on their shots, exercise them daily and take at least one Basic Obedience course! Even if your dog is 16 weeks or 6 years! It is never too old to teach a dog new tricks! This will be the best 6 weeks as you learn how to build trust and strengthen your bond with your dog.
I approached, Jen Guthrie, after knowing and working with her with our Stiggy’s Dog, Bella. Jen was her foster mom and a Dog Trainer for Pro-K9. Her philosophy of teaching paired with my own. Since our Director of training, Donna is busy with our Veterans and training our Psychiatric Service Dogs, I asked Jen if she would consider teaching a class for interested Veterans and people of our community.
It is very important for me to be an advocate for the Canine Good Citizen program. This is designed to reward dogs that have good manners at home and in the community. With this training you will have a canine companion who responds to basic commands and is under good control on a leash. This is also a basic expected test for you to take your dogs into Schools, Nursing homes and hospital for Therapy work! Donna Fournier is our certified tester and a test will be taken for those interested for $10 after your 6 week class!
Class sizes are kept small 4-6 dogs, for more personalized attention. So hurry and sign up now!
6 weeks/ Tuesday nights at 7:00 p.m / Weekly beginning May 3rd/ for $145. This class is offered at The Barracks, but checks made out to Pro-K-9.
